altThis RT from sanderssays caught my eye a couple days ago: "Plan on introducing 3 people this week to someone they need to meet to succeed or dig out. Friday 2pm = your deadline"

I loved both the idea of career angels and that there was a deadline. Helping someone always feels good. Helping someone get hired in a good job feels even better.

From thought revolutionaries to Gen Y tweeters, there has been much talk of the economic gloom generating a sense of helplessness.  Without intervention, helpless turns too quickly into hopeless.

Helping others also helps you become a more positive and caring person.  Helping others is a great mental health booster, it's like a B-12 shot for your soul.  Helping others in a way that's fun for you gives you a sense of being useful and alive.  Helping others can re-energize your own job search efforts.

Dick Bolles (author of What Color Is Your Parachute) used to tell Parachute Workshop participants that people use their power to open doors for others, or to shut them.  Given the times, opening doors is just the way to go if you care about your karma.
